 The Mapa Group contains two companies: Mapa Mapping and Publishing, and Mapa Internet.
Mapa Mapping and Publishing, established in 1993, operates in two fields:
The Geographic Information Systems Division, leader in this field in Israel, develops and maintains geographic databases for commercial and navigation (GPS) use, under the trade name GISrael.
The Mapa Publishing Division is considered the Israeli leader for atlases, maps and travel guides. Thanks to the high level of cartography of its products, the division has a strong reputation among professionals in this field.
Mapa Internet operates the portal www.mapa.co.il . This portal, established in 2001, is very popular in Israel for local touring, vacations and free-time diversions. The portal consists of a database of maps and points of interest such as vacation sites, hiking trails, hotels, bed-and-breakfasts and events. Its 20,000 subscribers can rate points of interest. Ituran customers in Israel receive a variety of the Mapa portal services at no charge. |
